In schools across the country, teachers are sitting down together to discuss their students. They share stories, insights, successes, and challenges. Together they develop a plan of action to make sure these students, their students, don’t fall off track. They do all this while being prompted by Early Warning Indicators.
EWIs are the canary in the coal mine. The check engine light on your dashboard that goes on before your engine seizes up. They are a warning that if left unattended, something far worse will happen than a little light turning on.
They are a call to action and the Early Warning Indicator and Intervention (EWI&I) System is how teachers can respond.
